Armadillo Tex was founded by two scientists who share a common vision and a strong passion for protecting people effectively. As PhD-qualified engineers, Dr. Philip and Dr. Nadine Jungbecker combine deep scientific expertise with a clear focus on practical, real-world application.
They met during their studies at RWTH Aachen University, where they specialised in smart textiles and high-performance man-made fibers. From the outset, they were driven by a central challenge: how to deliver reliable protection without compromising freedom of movement.

Before founding the company, both gained extensive experience in industrial environments. Dr. Philip Jungbecker brings this background to Armadillo Tex in his role as Head of Development, ensuring robust processes and consistently high-quality standards. Dr. Nadine Jungbecker adds complementary expertise from project management and controlling, integrating economic and organisational perspectives into technical development.

Material Development and Manufacturing

Through the systematic analysis and testing of stab-proof vests used worldwide, they identified fundamental limitations in existing solutions. Purely textile solutions often failed to provide sufficient resistance to stab and cut threats, while rigid protection plates, although effective, were heavy, uncomfortable and restrictive.

Based on this analysis, a new material concept was developed: a high-performance fiber-reinforced polymer combined with a flexible textile structure. The result is a protection material that balances high mechanical protection with low weight, flexibility and breathability.

Based on this innovation, Armadillo Tex GmbH was established in 2019. Its certified protection materials are manufactured entirely in Germany using advanced production technologies and clearly defined quality standards.
